Introduction

Nimbarka Sampradaya

The Nimbarka Sampradaya is a renowned, aged Vedic Sat Sampradaya. This sampradaya has been named a HANSA sampradaya in the name of the very first Shree Hansa Bhagwan (Lord VISHNU). Similarly it is also known as Sankadi sampradaya having Sankadi Munis as the middle acharyas (Manas Putra of Lord BRAHMA). They after delivering the knowledge of upasana and practice of Yoga gave initiation of Astaadashakshra Gopal Mahamantra and the devotional practice to devrishi NARADA.

The incarnation of Lord Shri Nimbarkacharya took place at the end of Dvaparayuga (Approx. 5000 years this has been proved by the Pratisagarkhand of Bhavishyapurana).

Once devrishi NARADA visiting the Prithvi-Lok observed the miserable condition and darkness of adharma in which humankind trapped in the material universe. He narrated the whole condition in Dev-Lok.

Then they all decided to go to Go-Lok Dhaam to Lord KRISHNA and narrated miserable condition of material universe and prayed for Dharama Raksha of Prithvi-Lok. After listening to them Almighty Lord KRISHNA asked Sudershan Chakra to take avataar and establish Dharma and spread spiritual realization in Prithvi-Lok.

Then as per wish of Lord Shri KRISHNA, Devrishi Narada gave initiation of Upasana, Yoga, Brahmavidya and devotional service to Their divine lordship Sri Radha Krishna along with the salagrama vigrah to Nimbaditya or Nimbarakacharya.

Listening to his tender conversation on sundry matters developed a profound adoration for the saint, He asked him how all heads stoop to your feet in veneration, and please tell me how you became so great. He said after smiling, "my child, I have become what I am by unseasonly chanting the holy name of Lord Rama. Apply yourself to do the same inwardly and you will be equally great." It was the moment, He realized that, I would surely embarked right away on reciting the Lord's name and perceived right away that worldly bondages lay as under as of that moment.

Sri Santadas Kathia Babaji Maharaj

A Brief Introduction

Brajbedhi Sri Mahant Sri 108 Swami Santadas Kathia Babaji Maharaj One of the Pioneer of Nimbark Samparday. A great saga, who attained higher divinity or spiritual realization, preached the perennial philosophy of Nimbarka Vedanta ideology among the people of Bharat Varsha. He also established various ashrams throughout India, to rescue people who are plunged in sin, sorrow and darkness by showing the spiritual progress.

Sri Santadas Kathia Babaji was born on 10th June 1859 on the auspicious day of Ganga Dushera Tithi, in "Bani" a village in Srihatta Bengal. His father was a strict religious Brahmin. At a very tender age his attraction towards religious Ramayan and the Mahabharata was astonishing. He was so intelligent that he used to listen quietly and eagerly and enraptured and memorised them. After the thread ceremony he went to city for higher education. But hunger of devotion and puja was so that he performed the puja three times a day with no flaw in his performance. Meantime he passed B.A, M.A and Law and started practice at high court. As time passed he felt something was lacking in life. This realization of the want of something in his life nearly drove him mad. But in his heart of hearts he felt that he required a Sadguru. Only a Sadguru could put an end to this ceaseless craving of his mind. Santadas Kathia Babaji life presents before us a kaleidoscopic spectacle of spiritual enlightenment. In year 1894 the Purna Kumbha was held in Prayag and he went with a friend. At Kumbh another day a disciple of Goswami Prabhu was saying "Kathia Baba does not accept many disciples, Santadasji". Hopes were shattered. Then next day they went to have his Darshan. The moment we sat near him, Sri Ramdas Kathia Baba said "If I find a person who has the qualities of a true disciple I am prepared to accept him."
The cloud of disappointment disappeared, the light of hope flashed in the darkness when he heard the words of Kathia Baba.

On the auspicious occasion of Janmasthami, the blessed couple received Diksha from Shri Ramdas Kathia Babaji Maharaj at Brindavan. Logstanding wish to find a Sadguru was at last fulfilled. Santadasji began to feel from that very moment that I had become a blessed child of Lord. All doubts that had arisen so far in the mind began to feel that he was an all-knowing Brahamrishi.

After returning to Calcutta, he started bhajan as per the instruction. The while day he spent doing his work as a lawyer at high court, but he kept the night for meditation and repeating the mantra. The eternal seed of salvation - the seed which helps one to attain eternal bliss - is implanted in the heart by a Sadguru. The realisation of this truth filled him with wonder as well as gratitude.

First book he wrote Brahmavadi Rishi and Brahmavidya a compilation of the main message of the scriptures of the world. And discussing about the Upanishads, Bhagavat Gita and other scriptures was his daily duty. Life was devoted helping poor people. He always believed that one can gain grace of Lord by giving away and not by trying to hoard his wealth. At that time when he planned to move to Brindavan his income was Rs. 10000/- per month. His journey to the temple of dedication, sacrifice and service took place in the month of August 1915.

According to the shastras, if we can constantly dwell in the human soul devoid of that effulgence the soul of all souls will reveal himself. One who attains full knowledge of the Brahma becomes immortal, state is a kind of full detachment.

Babaji's sacrifice, indifference to earthly attachments, his austere meditation and his glowing appearance attracted many people.

Divine Messages

Eternal Message of Sri Nimbarkacharya's Divine Philosophy

The philosophical theory propagated by Nimbarkacharya is called "SwabhavikaDvaitaDvaita Siddhanta" (Natural dualism and non dualism theory). The doctrine expounded by Nimbarka is eldest of all the Vaishnava theories. The term Dvaitadvaita is synonymous with Bhedabhedha (Identity in difference). Nimbarka's Dvaitadvaita doctrine holds that the Jiva (Soul) is a part of the qualified or determinate being of God. The Jiva is different from Him, since it is created subject to nescience and dependent and controlled by Him. Since the Jiva is inseperable from God, subsist in Him and share His nature therefor the Jiva is also non different from Him.

God is the only ultimate reality, but He manifests Himself as the manifold world of de coming consisting of the Jiva and Jagat. They exist in Him and are sustained by His supreme power. God is non different from the world and souls because these depend on him for their being or their very existence, buy He is different from them as He is independent & possesses the unique qualities of omniscience, omnipotence and the like, which the latter do not possess. Yet they are one with Him in os far as they are His creations and can not exist apart from Him. Though there is an identity like that between ocean and wave, there is a different like that of Sun and its Light. In the integral philosophy Jiva is considered as a power of God Almighty self Lord Krishna is the resort of Jiva.

Nimbarka's philosophy maintained that even in its highest illumination soul attains through the spiritual union with the God acquires all the divine powers, but he does not become almighty. He is not endowed with power of creation, preservation and destruction.

The basic principle of Nimbaraka philosophy one can attain God grace and eternal light, prescribes five ways to attainment of Salvation at highest level namely, KARMA, JNANA, UPASANA, PRAPATTI AND GURUPASTTI. And one should absolute surrender himself on the path of spiritual realization with unconditional love for God with calm, silent and hard work. And to attain salvation as per Nimbarakacharya one has to fix one's mind on Guru. Worship him with perpetual devotion and supreme faith Guru that guides our steps. It is who shows the path and our goal to reach God.

In Shrimad Bhagwatgita, Lord Krishna says, "those who meditate on me and worship me exclusively and those who are devoted to me. I will see to it that they got what they do not have and can protect whatever they have got."

As an exponent of Vedanta, Nimbarkacharya expressed his philosophy through number of writings of spiritual realization of mankind are VedantaKamadhenu, Prapannakalpavalli, Mantrarahasya-sodasi, Prapatticintamani, Gitavakyartha, Sadacaraprakasa, Radhashtakam, Krishnastakam, Pratahsmaranastotram and the Dasasloki.

Dasasloki

The inseperable form of God is RADHA-KRISHNA, Krishna is the Lord of Love & Radha the power of love.

Divine Messages of Sri Ram Das Kathia Babaji Maharaj

First Stage:

The seeker who resides in the first stage shuns like poison all attachment to worldly loss or gain, surrenders heart and soul to a Sadguru and yearns to visit holy places. These conditions must be natural and permanent not subject to ephemeral fluctuations.

Second Stage:

"Who am I? Who is the cosmic Prince Mover?" Contemplate the aspirants that are lodged in the second stage. Spontaneously impelled by his very nature, he wonders about and meditates incessantly upon the Creator and Controller of the infinite variety of cosmic phenomena, animate as well as inanimate. Here again as in every stage, these cogitations must be effortless and unwavering-not given to sliding back. Like a thirsty individual who looks frantically for water everywhere and cannot rest until he has swallowed some, the person occupying stage two cannot relax until he has known the supreme Lord of the Universe.

Third Stage:

The faithful devotee who ascends to this stage has perfect and unflinching comprehension of the essential nature of God's omnipresence and omnipotence. He learns once and for all that God, as the original and only Cause and Source, pervades and empowers the entire panorama of the living and the nonliving throughout the fat corners of the universe inclusive of the seeker himself. Logical analyses also may beget the same conclusions, but this is short lived intellectual exercise - a very far cry from the abiding inner enlightenment that characterizes stage three. He transcends all worldly limitations and gains mastery over the supernatural.

Fourth Stage:

Equal vision and uninterrupted beatitude imply stage four. The holy inquirer who inhabits this level perceives everything as the manifestation of God Almighty, and his sense of distinction between one entity and another therefore dissolves altogether. He sees one in many and many in one. Such individuals are extremely rare. Pleasure or pain, loss or gain - nothing can dislodge him from an everlasting state of celestial bliss.

Fifth Stage:

Transcendental love for God, as epitomized by Sage Narada, is its beacon. The aspirant who levitates to this level shines with spontaneous selfless (causeless) love or devotion for Lord and his creation. In Sanskrit, this is known as Parabhkfior 'Naradiya Bhakti' after Sage Narada who attained this stage by virtue of a boon directly from God. In this stage, the seeker achieves perfect purity of mind and heart, and is no longer liable to slip downard to lesser levels.

The next two higher stages Sixth and Seventh, unfolds automatically with time. Only those that have earned mystic vision can really judge these stages surpass the limits by common human intelligence. Their deeds are bound to frustrate at rational analyses. They are adored and worshipped by all and sundry.

The wise have equal regard for all
They perceive the same self in a
Scholarly Brahmin, an outcast
An elephant a cow or a dog

Such people have mastered life
With even mind, they rest in Brahama
Who is perfect and the same everywhere
(Gita)

Sri Ram Das Kathia Babaji Maharaj, activities shows that he was verily incarnation of the lofty conception portrayed in the Gita. A sage or a swindler a prince or a pauper - everyone he treated as an equal. Revelations of child like simplicity and character were by no means rare. He always maintained that like elephant he has two set of teeth one to show and other is to eat. A true Sage will camouflage the real identity, occult power and supremacy so perfectly that, it is very difficult for common people to identify a true Saint.

He says: "You shall win true passion for God." To progress on path of Spiritual goal.

Sri Samtadas Babaji's few divine thoughts in short:

Respect - Deep faith in the words of one's Guru
Faults - Criticism and slander should always be avoided

1 - God is the Supreme Lord
2 - Total surrender leads to peace
3 - Serving the divine God in every human being is the best type of Sadhana
4 - Spiritual progress is impossible without a Sadguru
5 - God is all-seeing
6 - The seeds of salvation will never go in vain
